As I hope came across in the article, my receiving a phone call yesterday from a psychiatrist who simply saw my name on a question there in Ft Worth showed I was not alone in the “community building & identity” aspects of my own reaction. As I tried to convey we become more isolated all the way back in medical school, and the current state of practice doesn’t help. As information is more & more controlled, we should not be surprised at how little the mainstream docs understand.
If medicine is truly going to be changed for the better, if we are going to find better mechanisms to care for people & promote health, connection & community are vital. The FLCCC has done more to promote this than any other group I am aware of. I am proud to be able to share my experiences with others.
It was invigorating and mentally exhausting at the same time. So much information shared. I have never felt connected in the medical community - but I felt it there. I loved being among our “fellow dissidents and troublemakers!” It was an honor to spend time talking with you at this conference! Your impact is perhaps much greater than you realize.
Thank you for your kind words. I have been lurking in the background but do see this as a time to step forward & be of greater service in whatever capacity I can. I appreciate your trust & friendship, and was thankful for the conversation we had.
Thank you for this heartfelt response. We are pleased the conference had this impact on you.

Relationship, as you point out, is foundational in medicine and healing.
